Selecting the Website Templates that are Best for You
It just keeps getting easier to build your own website with each passing day of advanced technology. Today, it has been made even easier with the introduction of website templates.
The Start of the Website Template
For many years now, there have been website templates available through companies like MSN. But, most people didn’t use these templates because they were hard to use and to implement. Now, with the introduction of new technology, building websites has become so easy that even kids are doing it on websites such as MySpace.com. With a basic template and a little bit of knowledge, building your own website can be easy.
HTTP protocol is where the opportunity to build your own website began. With the introduction of HTML in 1996, website builders found their jobs to be even easier. With the introduction of web browsers in 1993, suddenly web pages and sites opened up as a viable concept for everyone. This opened the door for the new web oriented business that we see today. It also opened up a world of possibilities for learned webmasters to create templates, making the Internet and its uses open to anyone with even just a little bit of computer knowledge.
Using Website Templates
There are two different ways a website owner can head when it comes to using website templates. One method is to use just a basic template layout, which is a page that has already been formatted and just needs the content placed in it. This is the basic method that sites such as MySpace.com and MSN Space offer. The user simply goes into the site, chooses a page, and adds his or her information.
The basic template layout option is easy to use, but they are considered cookie cutter websites because they are mass produced. While this is ok for teens and those who aren’t really running a business on the Internet, it is too simple for most website owners who want a unique look to their sites.
These days there are other website template options that are more unique than the basic template layout. Some websites offer pages created with the top website building software available, such as Macromedia Dreamweaver, BlueFish, Amaya, or FrontPage. These software packages offer the best in website design. In addition, there are now companies that design pages entirely from the bottom up and then offer them for free or sell them to interested clients.
Website Template Software
FrontPage, a program offered with MS Windows offers web templates that can only be used with Microsoft's FrontPage software. Many website designers find this annoying. If you chose to use a template from FrontPage, it is important to remember to ask the web hosting service if they accept these templates.
Some web hosting domains don’t because FrontPage is proprietary. Despite its disadvantages, many people still like FrontPage because it is easy to use and has built in support. This is the main distinction between these templates and other universal HTML templates. In addition, those who use FrontPage say the templates are extremely easy to use.
Another method for building a website using a template is to use a flash web template. Macromedia Flash is the program used to create many sites because it is capable of adding the extra bells and whistles to a site. The problem with using Macromedia Flash is that, if you are a beginner, it can seem overwhelming.
Flash technology requires a little more knowledge than just plugging in your information. Macromedia Flash is, however, now building in tutorials so the average user can create within the program. Remember that this method will take a bit more time in creating your website - template or not.
Whichever method you choose, these days creating your website or page from a template is a viable choice. No longer does the average computer user have to understand all of the intimate details of how the Internet works to have access to website technology.
